New Executive Director Announced

Following a highly competitive national search, the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of Jeffrey K. Riley as our new Executive Director starting August 13, 2018. Mr. Riley will be responsible for leading the fundraising, strategic leadership and overall management of the Friends as the Foundation works to achieve its vision of being among the top library foundations in the nation in terms of dollars raised to support the library.

“When we interviewed Jeff, we were impressed with his thorough understanding of the deep value that the Denver Public Library offers to our community,” says Pam Jewett, chair of the Friends Foundation Board of Trustees. “He comes highly recommended for his extensive experience, commitment to the mission and thoughtfulness. We are thrilled to bring such a well-respected professional to lead the Friends Foundation as we embark on our vision to provide greater resources to the Library.”

Mr. Riley most recently was Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross of Colorado & Wyoming. Prior to his work at the Red Cross, Mr. Riley’s non-profit experience includes serving as Vice President of Development and Corporate Secretary for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Senior Vice President of Donor Relations for Mile High United Way. In addition, he served in the management consulting field as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of EFL Associates and with Price Waterhouse.

“The Denver Public Library and the Friends Foundation are fantastic community assets,” said Mr. Riley. “The Library and Friends Foundation are providing access to information for all, and in that way are improving our community every day.  I am very excited to join the Friends Foundation in carrying out its mission of support for the Library.”

In addition to his employment experience, Mr. Riley has held board or board leadership positions with organizations including the Economic Club of Colorado, Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, Mile High United Way, University of Denver Career Services, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Membership Services and the Colorado Association of Personnel Consultants.
