In 2006, the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation provided funding for two out of every five books purchased by the Denver Public Library, as well as other financial and event support.
Over the coming year, with the support of our new, reinvigorated membership, the Friends will:
- Provide funding for new book purchases for the Summer of Reading program, Read Aloud, and AskColorado homework helper program
- Help provide many, many volunteers who mentor children, tutor adults, and perform other valuable services
- Sponsor and operate events such as the Annual Used Book Sale, the Rare and Not-So-Rare Book and Art Auction, and the Booklovers’ Ball, which raise thousands of dollars for Library programs
